Summary: 

As Mindbridge approaches its 10 year anniversary, we are seeking an energetic and ambitious Development Officer to propel our public-facing fundraising efforts to ambitious new heights. The Development Officer will play the dominant role in securing resources essential for the successful implementation of our programs and initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys creating a portfolio from scratch across a spectrum of prospective donors- individuals, corporations, foundations.

Potential Future Responsibilities:

  1. Fundraising Strategy:
    Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and other team members to develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with Mindbridge's mission and objectives.

  2.  Communications and Outreach:
    Collaborate with the communications team to develop fundraising materials, including solicitation letters, brochures, and online campaigns. Contribute to the creation of compelling narratives and messaging that effectively communicate Mindbridge's mission and impact to donors and the public.

Terms:

  • Mindbridge employees enjoy flexible scheduling and a hybrid work structure. In addition to all out-the-door donor engagement activities, this position requires at least one day a week in the Portland, Maine Mindbridge office. 

    • 20% travel anticipated, alongside project and program staff, to optimize donor engagement across regions

    • Compensation: 20 hours per week @ $50 per hour

Qualifications

  • Experienced frontline fundraiser or sales professional (4+ years) who is happiest in a public-facing role

  • Experience generating leads and building a portfolio of customers and/or donors across diverse streams

    • Individuals, corporations, foundations

  • Experience translating complex narratives into dynamic storytelling for diverse audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with research- and science-based organizations

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Fundraising Events:
    Lead all planning, organization, execution, and follow up of approximately three fundraising events per year (10th anniversary celebration, galas, charity auctions, donor receptions, etc.). Coordinate logistics, recruit volunteers, and support outreach and marketing efforts to maximize participation and contributions.

  2. Comprehensive Donor Prospecting, Cultivation, and Solicitation:
    Build and maintain a portfolio of prospects and new donors, including individuals, corporations, and institutional funders. Goals include at least 10 meaningful contacts monthly, aiming to secure new sponsorship from corporations, foundations, and individuals by the end of the year. 

  3. Database Management:
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donors, donations, and fundraising activities in the organization's database. Generate reports and analyze data to track fundraising progress, identify trends, and inform decision-making.
