Mindbridge Content Expert

Position Summary

The Mindbridge Institute Content Expert plays a critical role in developing, refining, and overseeing the psychological and neurobiological content that underpins our human rights training programs. This part-time position is designed for an advanced subject matter expert with a graduate degree (Master’s or higher) in social psychology, clinical psychology, or cognitive neuroscience.

The Content Expert ensures all educational materials are scientifically accurate, aligned with current research, and accessible to a wide range of learners. They work in close collaboration with the Program Manager and Strategic Learning Manager to integrate the latest findings from psychology and neuroscience into Mindbridge’s offerings.

The ideal candidate brings deep disciplinary expertise, strong content development and research translation skills, and a commitment to making complex scientific insights both engaging and actionable. This role requires the ability to synthesize and communicate high-level concepts with clarity and rigor while contributing to continuously improving training content and program delivery strategies.

Responsibilities

Content Expertise & Program Development

  • Provide subject matter expertise to develop, refine, and expand training materials grounded in the latest research in psychology and neuroscience- applied to human rights.

  • Conduct literature reviews and synthesize academic research to ensure training content is current, evidence-based, and scientifically rigorous.

  • Provide clear, accessible explanations of complex psychological and neurobiological concepts that support the creation of engaging learning materials based on said concepts.

  • Collaborate with the Strategic Learning Manager to ensure scientific accuracy and conceptual clarity across all digital and physical resources.

  • Identify opportunities to integrate emerging research and innovative approaches into program content and curriculum design.

Training Preparation & Resource Management

  • Ensure scientific content is well-organized and version-controlled across digital platforms (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, Canva) to support program delivery.

  • Lead ongoing updates to training materials, incorporating emerging research and aligning with evidence-based best practices.

  • Adapt and tailor psychological and neuroscientific content to meet client-specific goals in coordination with program and contract requirements.

Technology & Innovation in Learning

  • Use tools like Google Suite, Canva, and project management platforms (e.g., Asana) to support content development, version control, and coordination with the broader team.

  • Apply these platforms to streamline the integration of scientific content into training materials and ensure efficient collaboration across program areas.

Facilitation Opportunity (if interested):

  • Optional: Based on interest and availability, facilitate live, in-person, or remote training sessions to bring scientific concepts to life for diverse audiences.

  • Optional: Contribute to recorded learning modules that explore advanced psychological and neuroscientific concepts beyond the scope of live facilitation.

Desired Skills + Experiences

Content Expertise & Research Experience

  • Master’s degree or higher in social or clinical psychology or neuroscience and a deep understanding of some of the following: community psychology, culturally responsive/multicultural psychology, neuroscience of belonging and exclusion, social cognitive neuroscience, liberation psychology, moral psychology, social conflict theory, stereotype threat, and/or social influence and conformity.

  • Strong knowledge of psychological and neuroscience principles relevant to learning, behavior, and social dynamics.

  • Experience conducting academic or applied research and integrating findings into educational programs, curricula, or learning resources.

Instructional & Content Development

  • Ability to develop, refine, and translate scientific research into educational content for real-world learning applications.

  • Strong research, writing, and instructional design skills, focusing on clarity, accessibility, and engagement across audiences.

Professional & Interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to navigate complex conversations with professionalism, empathy, and cultural awareness.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners.

  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills to meet evolving program needs and training challenges.

Additional Considerations

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining clear, consistent communication with the broader team.

  • Passion for bridging neuroscience, psychology, and social justice to create transformative, research-informed learning experiences.

  • Mindbridge has an office in Portland, Maine, but this position can be hybrid or fully remote and will be discussed during the interview process.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Part-time @ 10 hours per week

  • $40/hour 

  • Live facilitation sessions are paid at $50/hour (optional, based on interest)

  • Annual time off allotments:

    • Flexible PTO Pool – All employees can access a shared pool of paid leave hours for various personal needs, and employees are encouraged to use this time throughout the year.

    • 18 hours of holiday time

    • 22.5 hours of sick time

    • 180 hours unpaid time by approval

    • 3 months paid parental leave (10 hours/week - 12 weeks)

  • Negotiating Conflict Workshop Series: This series combines insights from public policy negotiations and clinical psychology into an effective, compassionate framework that is ultimately grounded in an evidence-based approach to conflict management and resolution.

  • Bridging the Divide: Deepening our knowledge of extremism to better understand, engage, and communicate across ideological divides.

  • Understanding Populism & Extremism: Exploring the psychology behind populist sentiment, radicalization, and ideological extremism in the U.S.
